Hey Friend!

Have you ever wondered why people make their bed when they are just going to mess it up again in 16 hours? I know, me too!

Over the years while on my personal development journey, I’ve learned that it’s not about cleaning up before you head to the office or because it’s something your parents made you do since you were 8. Making your bed has more meaning under it (pun intended). It’s about having accomplished something early in the day to make you feel productive. Just like when you’re tackling your debt snowball, those small wins matter and they create motivation to do more and finish more tasks. It’s the same thought process when making your bed each day. In addition, getting these minor tasks done will help you in following through with other habits you’re trying to create and help you consistently be more productive.

I personally never made my bed, even as a child. I was the one who thought there was no point in making it. I have always been an organized person but making the bed just wasn’t a priority for me. Nowadays, I make our bed most days. While my shower is heating up I quickly make the bed and fold my throw blanket. It honestly really does make you feel good.

Remember, it doesn’t have to be every. single. day. Give yourself grace and notice the difference you feel on the days you make your bed and the days you don’t.

Try it for yourself and feel that small win to start your day 🙂
